






Hi! 👋 We’re Alison Marae and Wil Forbis.
We’ve been teaching, performing and creating together for 13 years. We teach ukulele workshops, private lessons and host strum/sing alongs and concerts throughout San Diego, Ca.
Together we have performed around the world in Paris, London, NYC, Hawaii, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, San Diego and fun little towns in between. We also co-wrote and performed in three original children’s musical productions, Rhythm Red Riding Hood, The Fairy and the Dragon and The Holiday Show.
Alison Marae is a ukulele hugging singer, songsmith, international performer and teaching artist. Her EP of original songs and jazz standards, My Heart Can’t Take It, received a San Diego Music Award nomination in 2014. In 2022, she released Comes Love, an acoustic cover of the 1939 jazz standard. She is also the creator of Hooray Miss Marae, her children’s music persona. She has released five music singles since 2020. Her children’s music and jazz music is available on all music streaming platforms.
As a teaching artist, she has been guiding students of all ages for two decades to feel empowered and happy through the expression of their heart and soul. Alison has taught and created her own programs for children, teens and adults in studios, public school arts outreach as well as staff for professional studios throughout San Diego. She teaches ukulele, voice, piano, dance and early childhood music.
Wil Forbis is a songwriter, ukuleleist, guitarist, producer, writer and educator. He is a graduate of the Guitar Institute of Technology with 30+ years of experience playing and recording music in a variety of styles. Wil has a strong command of music theory and playing techniques combined with a genuine love and fascination for music across genres.
As a composer, songwriter and musician, Wil has released two critically acclaimed jazz and country albums, an assortment of instrumental music, with one being featured on an episode of the television show, Weeds. His music is available on streaming platforms.
He’s a patient educator interested in teaching students the music and techniques they want to learn, while helping students meet short term playing objectives with an eye towards steady, long term improvement.
